On Monday, 13 July 2026, the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, officially installed Mr. Abdelkader CHERFAOUI as President of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), replacing Mr. Samir BEKHTI.

Promoting Algeria’s hydrocarbon potential and investment opportunities on the international stage, ALNAFT participated in the Global Energy Show 2026 in Calgary, where it engaged with global industry leaders, investors, and energy stakeholders. A key highlight of ALNAFT’s participation was the presentation delivered by Mr. IDRI Mohand laid, who provided an overview of Algeria’s hydrocarbon domain, investment opportunities, and the objectives and key features of the Algeria Bid Round 2026. His presentation underscored the country’s significant resource potential, competitive investment framework, and commitment to fostering a dynamic and attractive business environment. Throughout the event, the ALNAFT delegation held productive meetings with international operators, investors, and industry representatives, promoting the Algeria Bid Round 2026 and showcasing the opportunities available across Algeria’s energy sector. The Global Energy Show provided an excellent platform to strengthen dialogue with key stakeholders, explore new avenues for cooperation, and further position Algeria as a strategic destination for energy investment.

From 15 to 24 June, ALNAFT, in collaboration with IAP – the Algerian Institute of Petroleum, successfully conducted an intensive field geology training program as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening technical expertise and investing in human capital. Held across several geological sites east of the capital, the program enabled participants to translate theoretical knowledge into practical field experience. Through direct observation and geological interpretation, they gained a deeper understanding of the geological history and structural complexity of the Algerian basin More than a technical training initiative, the program fostered knowledge sharing, strengthened collaboration among professionals, and reaffirmed ALNAFT’s commitment to continuous learning and operational excellence By investing in hands-on training, ALNAFT continues to empower its workforce, enhance technical capabilities, and prepare its professionals to meet the evolving challenges of the energy sector. The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) announces the official opening of the Virtual Data Rooms (VDRs) as part of the ALGERIA BID ROUND 2026, marking a new milestone in the promotion of Algeria’s hydrocarbon acreage to national and international investors. For the first time, technical data related to the blocks offered under a licensing round will be made available through a secure digital platform. This development reflects ALNAFT’s commitment to modernizing its processes, enhancing the investor experience, and facilitating access to strategic information regardless of investors’ geographical location. The launch of the Virtual Data Rooms will enable interested companies to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the investment opportunities available under the ALGERIA BID ROUND 2026 and to prepare their bids under optimal conditions. This new phase follows the promotional activities carried out since the launch of the Bid Round and demonstrates ALNAFT’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the attractiveness of Algeria’s upstream hydrocarbon sector. The process will continue with the bid submission phase, followed by the opening and evaluation of bids and the award of blocks scheduled for November 2026, while contract signing is planned for January 2027. Through this significant advancement, ALNAFT reaffirms its determination to provide investors with a competitive, modern, and business-friendly environment that fosters sustainable partnerships and supports the optimal development of Algeria’s national energy resources.

As part of the Workshops held from May 11 to 13 in Algiers, ALNAFT and EAGE officially launched a major international technical event bringing together decision-makers, experts, and key players from the global energy industry. The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by Mr. Samir Bekhti, President of ALNAFT, followed by an address from Mr. Johannes Wendeborg, representative of EAGE, who emphasized the importance of international collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing in supporting the transformation of the energy sector. The event also featured two high-level strategic panels, with the participation of Mr. Bekhti, focusing on Algeria’s offshore potential, mature basins, technological innovation, digital transformation, and next-generation recovery solutions: Navigating the New Era: Strategies Across Algeria’s Offshore Frontiers and Mature Basins Driving Sustainable Value and Shaping Tomorrow’s Energy in Algeria’s Mature Reservoirs: Strategies, Digital Transformation, Technology, Next-Gen EOR, and Regulatory Practices The teams of ALNAFT also actively contributed to this international event through technical presentations, scientific posters, and strategic discussions addressing key Onshore & Offshore exploration and development challenges in Algeria. Through this event, ALNAFT reaffirms Algeria’s ambition to strengthen its position as a strategic destination for hydrocarbon exploration and investment while promoting sustainable, innovation-driven, and technology-oriented energy development.

The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) officially launched the “Algeria Bid Round 2026” on April 19, 2026, in Algiers, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center. The launch ceremony was chaired by the President of ALNAFT, Mr. Samir Bekhti, in the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, as well as several members of the government, including the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, the Minister of Industry, and the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises. The event was also attended by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sonatrach Group, along with representatives of international energy companies. During the ceremony, presentations were delivered by ALNAFT engineers and executives to outline the legal and fiscal framework governing the hydrocarbon sector in Algeria, as well as to unveil the seven perimeters put up for bidding under this call for tenders. The proposed perimeters are as follows: El Borma II (Ouargla), El M’Zaid North (Ouargla), Illizi Central I, East Bordj Omar Driss I (Illizi), El Hadjira III (Touggourt), Touggourt South, and El Benoud East (El Bayadh). Furthermore, ALNAFT has set November 26, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of bids. The announcement of results is scheduled before the signing of hydrocarbon contracts with Sonatrach, planned for January 31, 2027.
